Ambadi (Hibiscus sabdariffa, Sorrel) is an excellent source of Vitamin A, B- vitamins like thiamine, riboflavin, folic acid, Vitamin C, iron, calcium, antioxidants, and fibre.Regular consumption of Ambadi prevents anaemia and menstrual disorders, without the side effects of constipation that come with iron tablets. Other health benefits include its ability to strengthen immunity, to slow the aging process, to improve digestion and blood circulation, to protect the liver and heart, to build strong bones, and several more.
The entire Ambadi plant is useful because of its nutritional and medicinal values. Ambadi is the flavour of the monsoon season in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. It is one of the few leafy vegetables which is consumed without any inhibition during monsoon since it grows a bit higher than ground level, and its high vitamin C content boosts immunity as well. You can easily grow Ambadi plant in your kitchen garden, it is a hardy plant which requires very little care.
Jowar (or sorghum) is a millet which is a good source of various nutrients, including protein, fiber, iron, phosphorus, and potassium. It contains very little fat, is free of cholesterol, and gluten-free.Jowar helps in weight loss, helps manage diabetes, improves digestion, and reduces risk of heart diseases overall. Incorporating jowar into your diet can be a great way to increase your intake of essential nutrients and potentially improve your overall health at all age groups.
Millets are a group of gluten free cereals and are least allergenic and slowly digestible grains. They contain high amounts of dietary fibres, B-complex vitamins, essential amino acids, and vitamin E. Their consumption reduces the risk of lifestyle diseases.
