The Traditional sattu is full of nutrition and is often called the Natural Protein Drink of rural India. The best thing about sattu is that it is a great food for babies, growing kids, expecting mothers, adults and even old people as it is easy to digest, high in protein and soluble fibres, and has cooling properties as well. Its low glycemic index makes it suitable for diabetics and for weight watchers as well.Sattu forms an intergral part of the breakfast diet of many people living in eastern and northern India. Regular consumption by children helps provide sufficient nutrition to their growing needs.
This can also be used in geriatric care (for old people who are unable to chew food) and in tube feeding. Tube feeding is indicated for patients who have functioning gastrointestinal tract but are anable to take oral feedings. For example, in having conditions like burns, prolonged infections, surgery, trauma, prolonged vomitting, malabsorption, cancer etc.
